This position will maintain a good client and employee experience on all company networks. This generally involves routine tasks related to routers, switches VPNs and firewalls and assisting other teams in diagnosing problems that may have a network component.
Use common network diagnostic tools, and assist Client Services analysts with analyzing client issues.
Create and maintain necessary network documentation and diagrams.
Troubleshoot Linux networking and in some cases track down issues that appear to be network related but are actually due to problems with httpd and other daemons.
Manage configuration, administration, and maintenance of all company networks.
Inventory network devices and the software on those devices, and update and replace when needed for security or similar reasons (e.g. EOL devices).
Evaluating network performance issues including availability, throughput, and latency.
Monitor network devices environmental and other relevant physical attributes.
Regularly check on STP (RSTP, MSTP) status with regard to root selection and costs on all network devices.
Plan and maintain on layer 2 and 3 DC interconnect while minimizing broadcast domains
Establish and maintain VPN connections and firewalls and coordinate with clients as necessary.
Initiate and remove Null routes and mitigations on IPs that suffer denial of service attacks.
Monitor IGP (OSPF v2 and v3) status and route propagation and troubleshoot reachability issues.
Monitor BGP status and route advertisement status and help troubleshoot reachability issues.
Collaborate with other team members and members of other teams to facilitate troubleshooting and recommendations.
Keep up to date on network technologies, relevant manufacturer devices and current industry-standard best common practices.
Protects organization's interests by keeping information confidential.
Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures.
Install and maintain any hardware device or software application needed in support of the above.
Debug and resolve complex system issues that are beyond the scope of standard support.
Monitor and maintain network security to harden our systems against external attacks.
Design and develop new systems to better automate manual duties.
Manage and maintain internal systems such as DNS and network monitoring.
Network technician or admin: 2+ years
Linux network troubleshooting: 1+ years
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related technology field or equivalent experience
Some understanding of software development; you may not be a developer, but you must understand how they think
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Relentless attention to detail
Office work in a controlled environment that requires extended periods of sitting
Position is required is be present at the assigned location during all work hours
May require work during non-traditional hours and on the weekends as required by the demands of the position
Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs and carry network equipment for extended periods of time
